You might have already started buying presents, or perhaps you’re brainstorming ideas on what to buy family or friends this year, and remember that they once mentioned wanting an e-scooter…

Before you make the purchase, please keep in mind the laws around e-scooters:
They are classed as motor vehicles, which means to legally use one, you need the correct licence, insurance, and tax. Riding without this could result in being issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) and points on your licence.
It is not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters in the UK, meaning it is illegal to use them on the road or in public spaces. If you own an e-scooter, you can only use it on private land with the permission of the landowner.
Cambridgeshire Police officers have been working hard to make the roads safer and have seized numerous e-scooters over the last few months, don’t let yours be the next one![]()
More information about the use of e-scooters can be found on the Cambridgeshire Police website![]()
